Largest Adult School in U.S. Moves Forward with
KnowledgeCore Software's Centralized System

Roseville, CA (October 10, 2001) - KnowledgeCore Software, a leader in the development of administrative software for adult and career education schools, today announced that it will install its AIM-Student Relationship Management™ software at the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Division of Adult and Career Education (DACE). As the largest adult and occupational education system in the nation, DACE serves a population of over 350,000 students within its 38 adult and career education schools and 34 branch office sites.

KnowledgeCore Software's AIM-Student Relationship Management software is an enterprise-wide solution designed specifically for public adult and vocational or career schools. The solution's server-based computing architecture and scalability is unique to this specialized education market, providing LAUSD with the infrastructure required for growth to 1,000 concurrent users and beyond. LAUSD utilizes an Oracle® database with the AIM software for maximum accuracy, speed and transaction management capabilities. Their computer hardware consists of an IBM® eServer™ pSeries database server with a capacity to store 100 million records; an application server; and thin client server(s). KnowledgeCore Software has successfully web-enabled its centralized application through a business alliance with Citrix Systems, Inc. The Citrix® MetaFrame™ application serving technology was chosen for its proven ability to lower support costs and provide LAUSD administrators, operators, counselors and teachers with secure, reliable access to the centralized AIM application.

"It's a massive project, and one that we are well prepared for in terms of product capability and implementation experience," explains Robert LeVine, KnowledgeCore Software's President and CEO. "The hardware, software and infrastructure being deployed will support over 300 workstations initially while allowing expansion to 3000 connected users. Most of that growth in users will come from the addition of electronic registration, electronic attendance in classrooms, and alternative methods of attendance entry."

"KnowledgeCore Software's AIM-Student Relationship Management solution enables us to leverage our huge investment in wiring and desktop PCs while provide for the future growth in our user population," says Arnie Abitabilo, Project Coordinator with the Adult Student Information System within the LAUSD. "We were also impressed with the tremendous efficiencies offered by KnowledgeCore Software's eClassManager™ program, enabling teachers to access class information from anywhere they can get Internet access and record daily attendance, grades and competency entries."

New functionality added to the AIM-Student Relationship Management software addresses the administrative and reporting requirements of the Perkins Act federal legislation and California's CDE-101. Additional features include the ability to quickly and efficiently print student competencies and certificates and conduct user-defined surveys that help improve the quality of programs.
